Man dies in St. Francois Co. fire

LAKE TIMBERLINE, MO (KFVS) - A man died in a fire in St. Francois County on Saturday morning.

According to Lake Timberline Fire Chief Art Goede, fire crews were called to the scene of a mobile home on fire at 5:23 a.m. on Saturday.

When crews arrived to the fire at the 1900 block of Boundary St., the home was fully engulfed. One man was inside the home at the time. The home was fully destroyed.

According to St. Francois County Coroner Jim Copeland, Dustin Towey, 34, of Lake Timberline, died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The fire marshal says the cause of the blaze is undetermined, according to Goede.

Fire departments from Desoto, Goose Creek, Bonne Terre and Park Hills assisted the Lake Timberline Fire Department. The state fire marshal is investigating the fire.

Lake Timberline is 6.5 miles north of Bonne Terre.
