Man accused of driving the wrong way in deadly crash

AURORA, KY (KFVS) -

A Murray man faces charges after a deadly crash Thursday morning in Marshall County, Kentucky.

It happened around 5:40 a.m. on US 68 and US 80 in Aurora.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Jeffrey Nelson, 48, of Murray was driving eastbound on US 80 in the westbound lanes.

Officers say Megan McCoy was driving eastbound on US 80. She was making a left turn onto US 68 when Nelson's vehicle struck McCoy's vehicle on the driver's side.

Officers say McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Barry Taylor. Accident Rre-constructionistwere also called to the scene.

Nelson was booked into the Marshall County Detention Center on charges of manslaughter 2nd degree and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
