11/26/13 - Giving Thanks

We live in a day and age where time has become one of our most valued commodities. Smart phones allow us to talk, email, and text on the go. We work more and we sleep less . We eat in a hurry. As a society, multitasking has become the norm.

I don't know about you, but I find myself constantly pushing the clock to cram more and more into each and every day. That's why I would like to take a moment and ask each and every one of you to do what I plan to do this week. Slow down, take a minute, stop and smell the turkey.

There are a lot of folks, myself included, that don't take the time to give thanks for all that has been bestowed upon us. Look at all the things in your life that you have to be thankful for.

According to the writer H.U. Westermayer, "The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts." He wrote that "No Americans have been more impoverished than the pilgrims who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving."

Thanksgiving should not be the only day of the year that we surround ourselves with friends and family and give thanks for all of our blessings. But it is a great place to start. Whether your traditions revolve around a big meal, a football game, hunting for deer, or even hunting for bargains, please...take a moment. Think about everything in the world you have to be thankful for and give thanks.
