Illinois State Police say a man, two women and two children were injured in a crash near Carbondale on Friday.

It happened around 5:20 p.m. on IL Route 13 at Spillway Road.

Troopers say three vehicles were involved in the crash and one person had to be extricated.

Two cars were stopped in traffic at the light on Spillway Road. Police say the driver of a Cadillac Deville failed to slow down and hit a Chevy Impala that was pushed into a Nissan Quest.

The driver of the Impala, Shelly L. Huggins, 41, of Herrin, was extricated from her vehicle, and taken by EMS to a Carbondale hospital with serious injuries.

Rebecca Rothchild, 33, of Herrin, along with a 9-year-old and 12-year-old, were all taken by EMS to a Carbondale hospital with non-debilitating injuries. Joshua M. Rothchild, 34, of Herrin, was taken by EMS to a Carbonale hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac, Joshua M. Rothchild was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Rebecca Rothchild was cited for not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers say the driver of the Nissan Quest, Mallory L. Wright, 38, of Cambria was not injured.
