KARBERS RIDGE, IL (KFVS) - Two Saline County girls were rescued from Pounds Hollow area Wednesday evening.
A call came through to Saline County Central Dispatch around 6 p.m. about the lost hikers.
The girls were hiking around Pounds Hollow Lake on Deer Run Trail and became lost.
"Saline County 9-1-1 used GPS tracking from the girl's cell phone and was able to give those co-ordinates to the responders and we were able to find them quickly," said Steve Galt, Gallatin County EMA Director in a news release.
Shawneetown Fire Department members were able to go into the area and knew exactly where to go.
"Without the co-ordinates it would have taken about two hours to get the girls out, in all it took about thirty minutes to get them out," continued Galt.
The girls were uninjured, just cold. Gallatin County EMS was placed on stand-by at the scene as a precaution, but were not needed.
The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office also helped in the rescue.
