CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Police say a man is in custody following a campus alert at Southeast Missouri State where several women say they were touched and grabbed.

Campus police reported five incidents involving a man on a bike grabbing and touching women from behind.

Public Safety Director Doug Richards says, thanks to a report on Heartland News, they now have a man in custody.

According to DPS, James Corey Griswell, 18, is a registered sex offender in Cape Girardeau County. He is facing three counts of misdemeanor assault.

Griswell is accused of grabbing several women from behind as he rode past them on his bike.

Officers took Griswell into custody late Wednesday night.

He was taken to the Cape Girardeau County Jail on $5,500 cash only bond.

Richards says he is not a Southeast student.

The first incident reportedly happened back on November 4. The most recent one on Nov. 10.

It happened near Houck Place which is close to Houck Stadium near Belleview and Pacific streets.

Victims described the suspect as a white male wearing a blue striped hoodie and blue jeans, late teens to early 20s with long brown hair.
