Jailed alderman accused of breaking guard's finger

MURPHSYBORO, IL (KFVS) -

A Murphysboro alderman accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman now faces new charges for allegedly trying to escape from jail.

Ronald Nolan, 46, faces new charges of attempted escape, aggravated battery and resisting a peace officer.

Nolan was being held on charges for allegedly holding a 20-year-old woman against her will.

Investigators say while awaiting trial, he broke a guard's finger and hit another in the genitals while trying to escape from jail.
