The Black Tiger Honor Guard honored all veterans past and present today in Marion. They are a group of men and women who have all served in the armed forces. Now, they perform this silent ceremony set to music only to commemorate veterans and their families. Our very own veteran, Arnold Wyrick, was there today. Despite the chilly Monday morning, more than 100 people turned out to Veterans Memorial Plaza in Carbondale to honor our military. The VFW Post 2605 Color Guard opened the ceremony, followed by Commander Dick Kuehl's welcome. Then, the Color Guard were back up to raise the flag for the singing of the Star Spangled Banner by Laura Kucharik of Southern Illinois University of Carbondale. Rachel Gartner was at the ceremony. A woman now officially faces charges in connection with a police chase, in which two New Madrid County deputies were hurt Thursday night.
