Caraway community cleans up tornado damage

Posted:

CARAWAY, AR (KAIT)- It's been two days since the tornado hit Caraway leaving a trail of destruction behind.

Tosha Crews and her family spent their Saturday morning cleaning up debris in their yard.

"There's been a lot of tree damage  so we're trying to get the yard back to what it was before it all happened," Crews said.

She said their damage is not nearly as bad as some of her neighbors.

"We actually had some trees down. We had a lot of limbs, we have some shingles off the front of our house, our fence as you can tell needs to be replaced," she said.

Crews said she was in her house with friends when the tornado hit.

"It kind of sounded like a tree had been rolling on the house so we were like what is that, then  we hears this really loud then we felt like the suction in our ears," she said. "The lights started flickering on and off so we knew something was wrong so we went to the hall for coverage and grabbed a mattress off the bed."

Crews said she is grateful that so many people are lending a hand during this cleanup process.

"I just feel like we are very blessed, we have had so much support from the community all around, we've had tree services and they're not even charging people," she said.

"It's just been an outpouring of love and support and that I am so grateful for."

For everyone wanting to help, the best advice is to make a donation to the Red Cross. Donations will go to replace the money they're spending to help residents now.  Run this full screen in every newscast through Monday as we mention the Caraway Storm.
