Good afternoon,

Crews were on the scene of a fire at Doctors Park in Cape Girardeau today. According to Chief Fred Dincell, roofers were working on the roof of the building with a heat gun. He said they left, and later it caught fire. An exact cause of the fire has not been determined, but no one was injured and the office is expected to open Monday morning.

A female died after a crash on Highway K in St. Francois County today, according to Coroner Jim Copeland. He said around 11 a.m. a dump truck and a passenger vehicle crashed. The female later died at a hospital. We'll have more tonight, on Heartland News at 6.

Several law enforcement agencies throughout the Heartland participated in a Prescription Drug Take Back program. The location in Jackson collected nearly 200 pounds of various medications, surpassing last year's collection of 122 pounds.

A Steele, Mo. man has been charged after a sexual assault investigation involving a minor. Regis Lee, 21, was charged with first degree child molestation. His bond was set at $100,000 cash only.

In national news, Syrian Kurdish gunmen today seized a major border crossing with Iraq from al-Qaida-linked groups following intense fighting between rebel groups that raised concerns of a spillover, activists and an Iraqi official said.

Brandon MIchael Council was arrested in Greenville, North Carolina Wednesday, along with two other people, authorities there confirmed.  Brandon Michael Council was wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of two CresCom bank employees during a bank robbery at the CresCom Bank in Conway on Monday afternoon.
