2 McLeansboro teens charged after crash on C.R. 1400

MCLEANSBORO, IL (KFVS) - Two McLeansboro teens were charged after a crash on County Road 1400 North on Friday, October 25 around 6:30 p.m.

Nickolas Webb was charged with failure to wear a seat belt, leaving the scene of a personal injury traffic crash and improper lane usage.

Chelsea Webb was charged with failure to wear a seat belt.

According to Illinois State Police, Nickolas Webb, 19, was driving a red 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck eastbound on Hamilton County Road 1400 North, about 600 feet east of Hamilton County Road 975 East, when he said a deer ran in front of his truck.

Police say Webb lost control of the truck after he tried to avoid hitting the deer. The truck hit the ditch on the south side of the road, which caused it to spin around backwards and roll over onto its top.

Webb was not injured in the crash. Police say a passenger, 19-year-old Chelsea J. Webb, was later taken to the hospital by her family for treatment of minor injuries.

According to police, neither teen was wearing their seat belt.

The truck was removed from the crash scene by Nickolas Webb and his friends.
