SPRINGFIELD, IL (KFVS) - Governor Pat Quinn announced Thursday $1.1 million for several construction projects in southern Illinois.
"These construction projects will help maintain and improve vital roads and state facilities in Alexander, Jefferson, Wabash and White Counties," Governor Quinn said. "Additionally, they will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy."
The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the projects:
The entrance road and parking lot of Cairo Regional Airport will be rehabilitated for $163,893. The project uses state funds for 90 percent of the work and local funds for the remaining ten percent.
Interstate 57/64 will be patched from the Evansville Western Railway to mile marker 97 on Interstate 57 and mile marker 73 on Interstate 64. Contractors bid $285,904.
A bridge carrying Illinois Route 1 over a creek about five miles north of U.S. Route 45 will be replaced for $223,324 by contractors.
These projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! Program.
