Contractors interested in building the new US 68/KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge toured the project site on Tuesday.
They were able to get a close-up look at the site, according to a spokesperson with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Displays showed an updated rendering of the basket handle arch structure designed for the Eggners Ferry Bridge site.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers and bridge designers also shared a model of what they expect the new structure to look like.
KYTC District 1 Chief Engineer Mike McGregor says that the twin basket handle arch bridges planned for Eggners Ferry and Canton will be among only a few dozen worldwide to use that design concept.
Bids will be submitted on on December 13.
The New US 68/KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge to cross Kentucky Lake at the Marshall-Trigg County Line will serve as the western entrance to the Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area.
