STEELE, MO (KFVS) - A teenager was taken into juvenile custody and his dad to the hospital after an incident on Thursday in Steele, Missouri.
According to Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield, the 16-year-old was charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action.
Chief Stanfield says officers were called to Smith Street in Steele for an assault call. After getting on the scene, officers found a 44-year-old man lying in the floor bleeding with a severe head wound.
The man was flown by helicopter to a Memphis hospital for treatment.
Chief Stanfield says officers learned the man's son attacked him with an aluminum baseball bat. The man was hit several times in the head with the bat.
The 16-year-old was turned over to Pemiscot Juvenile authorities and was being held in the Mississippi County Juvenile Detention Center.
