CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The weather is turning colder, and Friday nights mean Heartland football.
This week's Heartland Cook, Portageville native Emily Kellams, says her Game Day Chili recipe is a touchdown among her family and friends. It's easy and affordable - best of all, Emily has tips to shorten the cook time.
- 2 packages French's Chili-O mix
- 2 lbs. Ground Chuck
- 2 cans chili beans
- 2 cans diced tomatoes
- 1 can Rotel
- 1/4 cup Liquid Smoke
Brown 2 pounds of ground chuck in a frying pan. Drain and add to crock pot.
Add French's Chili-O mix, chili beans, diced tomatoes, Rotel and Liquid Smoke to crock pot and stir well.
Cook in crock pot on low 6-8 hours, simmer on stove on medium heat until Chili cooks down and flavors meld together well.
Emily's Tip: If you're pressed for time - you can cook the chili in your crock pot insert in the microwave. I usually cover mine with paper towels and cook for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
