Head Start staff has concerns now shutdown is over

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (KFVS) -

The government shutdown threatened the future of the Head Start program.

But now that it's over, will the children's program be okay?

Renee Killian is the director of Head Start in east Missouri.

She says they're happy the government's back open.

Now, the only concern is whether or not they'll get reimbursed the money they spent on food this month.

“We haven't received any kind of notification yet regarding our issue with the meals,” said Killian. “I'm hopeful that in the next few days we'll receive some kind of notification that says not only will our meals start being reimbursed again, but they may even go back and do some back reimbursement for us.”

She says the Head Start staff is glad they can continue to serve local parents and children.
