Synthetic drugs federal indictment, Carbondale fight leads to arrests, catfish restocked in Perry Co. lakes

Stoddard County Prosecutor Russ Oliver described the federal indictment of two men his county seized synthetic drugs from back in 2011 as "well worth the wait." Todd Tumminia talked to Oliver tonight and will have more on this story on Heartland News at 9 and 10.

A large fight in the area of Harbaughs and Campus Cuts led to arrest of several men Thursday night in Carbondale, according to Chief O'Guinn. You can click here for the story.

Fishermen in Perry County will get the chance to drop a line in their own backyard. The Perry County commissioners are teaming up with the Missouri Department of Conservation to stock the area lakes with catfish.

You never know when an earthquake could hit; so today schools and businesses across the country took time to prepare. The Great Central U. S. Shakeout teaches how to be safe during an earthquake. Mollie Lair was at Lee Hunter Elementary in Sikeston today where students practiced an earthquake drill.

Emergency crews were on the scene in Carbondale today where heavy equipment fell off a semi. This happened at the intersection of Route 13 and Giant City Road.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office said Harrisburg police, along with Illinois State Police, are investigating a bank robbery this morning. It happened at the Old National Bank on Rollie Moore Drive near Walmart. You can click here to continue reading.

Police in Dyersburg, Tenn. say six people are facing attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting last night that left one man injured.

In national news, Toyota is recalling 803,000 vehicles in the U.S. because their air bags or power steering could stop working. The Camry and Camry hybrid, Avalon and Avalon hybrid and Veneza from the 2012 and 2013 model years are affected. Click here for more information.
