Suspect in custody, another on the run after shooting in Cairo

CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

A suspect is in custody and one on the loose following a shooting in Cairo Wednesday night, according to Alexander County Sheriff Tim Brown.

According to the sheriff's office, a person was shot at the Cutmart on the corner of Sycamore and 39th Street.

Sheriff Brown says Clifford Williams was shot four times and is in stable condition as of Friday afternoon.

Samantha Dean was booked into the Alexander County Jail and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.

William Wilkerson faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. Wilkerson is still wanted by police.

Bond was set at $250,000 for both Dean and Wilkerson.

According to the sheriff, the victim pulled into the gas station with his girlfriend and a child in the car. The suspect pulled up and shot the victim in the leg. He said the victim then ran across the street and the suspect shot him again in the back. The victim then collapsed across the street.

The victim was taken to the hospital.
