SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Multiple crews responded to a large house fire off of Highway 77 in Scott County Wednesday night, according to Scott County Rural Fire Chief Jeremy Perrien.

Perrien said the house was located on County Highway 505, right across from the Benton Racetrack. He said the house is a total loss.

Scott County Rural Fire Jeremy Perrien says the cause of the fire is believed to be faulty wiring.

He said everyone made it out of the house safely.

Perrien said people need to use caution in that area due to fire trucks on the road.

New Hamburg-Benton-Commerce Fire and Scott County Rural Fire responded to the call and are still on scene extinguishing hot spots.
