JCSU Class uses WBTV special investigation to study gangs

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A criminology class at Johnson C. Smith University in west Charlotte had homework that involved watching WBTV's 30-minute special investigation into gangs called  "The Underworld Under Us".

Professor Mercedes Fordham said she wanted to teach not just textbook history of gangs, but real-life experience of what's happening in our communities.

Tuesday night, a week after the show aired and all students had watched, they invited Anchor Molly Grantham to the class to ask questions about what they'd seen.

You can still see the full special on www.wbtv.com/Underworld.
