A southern Illinois company plans to open more than two dozen video gaming locations in the area. Arnold Wyrick will have more on the new sites tonight, on Heartland News at 9 and 10.

The government shutdown is making it difficult for some people to get from one place to another. The Stoddard County Transit takes people to places like the doctor's office, grocery store and other errands. However, on Wednesday, the government shutdown will put the brakes on this program, leaving 10 people without a job and many people without transportation. The shutdown isn't good news for craft beer lovers across America, either. It has halted production of new beers to come out. One local brewer said it's creating quite the buzz kill for him and his customers. Allison Twaits talked to him today about the standstill in his creative process. You can click here for the story.

A Union County pastor has been found not mentally fit to stand trial on charges of criminal sexual abuse. Bill Vandergraph was a well-known pastor in Alto Pass, Ill. and chairman of a group that renovating the Bald Knob Cross.

Williamson County deputies are searching for a fugitive, and asking for the public's help. Brent Michael Odum, 20, of Johnston City, is currently wanted for aggravated domestic battery and driving under the influence. He is believed to be in the Johnston City area. If you've seen him, officers say do not approach him, call the sheriff's office at 618-997-6541 or your local law enforcement agency.

Outside the Heartland, a second officer has been shot at a Memphis house where a man wanted on attempted murder charges has barricaded himself. That house is now fully engulfed in flames. You can click here for the story.

In national news, with time growing desperately short, House Republicans pushed for passage of legislation late today to prevent a threatened Treasury default, end a 15-day partial government shutdown and extricate divided government from its latest brush with a full political meltdown.
