PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah man faces more than a dozen charges after police say he assaulted his girlfriend, fled from police and fought with officers.

Johnathan M. Mabry, 32, of Paducah, faces charges of:

· Fourth-degree assault

· First-degree wanton endangerment

· First-degree fleeing or evading police (vehicle)

· Menacing

· First-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot)

· Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drug or alcohol (second offense)

· Resisting arrest

· Third-degree assault on a police officer

· Failure to maintain insurance

· Tampering with physical evidence

· Possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle

· Reckless driving

· Driving without his operator’s license in possession

Police were called to a disturbance in the 3500 block of Clark’s River Road late Tuesday night after he was accused of pushing his girlfriend out of his pickup truck into the road.

Witnesses told officers Mabry then punched the 34-year-old woman several times and left her in traffic on the road.

According to police, the woman crawled to the ditch for safety and later sought medical treatment at Lourdes Hospital.

An officer spotted Mabry’s truck in the area of Bridge Street and activated his emergency lights. Mabry fled on Homewood Avenue and drove several blocks before finally stopping his truck.

Police say Mabry refused commands to show his hands and exit the truck, and made gestures as if he was loading and arming a gun. He told the officers, “You want an assault? I’ve got an assault for you!”

Mabry got out of the truck with a foot-long socket wrench. He then fled on foot.

During a foot pursuit, Mabry threw the wrench into a ditch as he ran. He stopped about 300 yards from his truck, and turned on the officers.

Officers deployed their tasers in an attempt to subdue Mabry as he fought officers on the ground.

Mabry was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail
