MoDOT holds briefing to discuss Route W project in farmington

FARMINGTON, MO (KFVS) -

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will hold a community briefing about improvements to Route W (Columbia Street) in Farmington, Mo.

According to MoDOT, improvements will include:

  • Resurfacing Columbia Street from Westmount Drive to Main Street, including Liberty Street between Main Street and Franklin Street.
  • The Columbia Street and Black Knight Drive intersection will be improved with the addition of left turn lanes on Columbia Street and Black Knight Drive.
  • Concrete islands will be added to Black Knight Drive to accommodate future traffic signals.
  • Sidewalks along the route will also be upgraded from Westmount Drive to First Street.

Work is expected to begin in spring 2014, and end by the end of the year.

During a majority of the construction, work zones will consist of two-way, one-lane traffic with pilot cars directing drivers where to go.

Also, Columbia Street will close between Westmount Drive and Black Knight Drive for approximately one month during the installation of a bridge.

The community briefing will be held at the Farmington Fire Station, located at 222 East Columbia St. from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Visitors can stop-by anytime between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to discuss the details of the project with a member of the project team and provide their comments
