Body of missing 5-year-old recovered

QULIN, MO (KFVS) - Sheriff Mark Dobbs confirms the search for the missing 5-year-old child has been concluded. He says crews recovered the body of Devonte Dye Monday morning at about 10 a.m. from the St. Francis River.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were searching for a missing 5-year-old boy.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office sent out a missing child alert Sunday.

They were looking for 5-year-old Devonte Dye last seen in the Qulin, Mo. area. He is a black male, with black hair and brown eyes, according to the sheriff's office. Crew members say the boy has Autism. They are not calling out his name because he is unable to respond verbally.

Devonte was described as wearing a black shirt blue jeans was last seen around 2:30 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office says they got the call at 3:10 p.m.

The Dunklin County Sheriff's Office along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol is working with Butler County deputies in the search for the little boy.

One firefighter tells us 200-300 volunteers were also on the scene, but they are on standby while search dogs pick up scents.

Crews were searching near the St. Francis River, on the Butler County line and on Route 53 just outside of Qulin.
