ISP: Alcohol a factor in Gallatin County crash

ISP: Alcohol a factor in Gallatin County crash

Police say two people are facing charges after an injury crash involving alcohol Wednesday night in Gallatin County, Illinois. It happened shortly before 10:45 p.m. on Kedron Road at Grater Road.

Ryne D. Johnson, 23, of Harrisburg, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol, driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to wear seatbelt.

Laura E. Hubbs, 20, of Equality and Ashley R. Terry, 21, of Harrisburg were charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to wear seat belt. Hubbs was also charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

According to Illinois State Police, Ryne D. Johnson, 23, of Harrisburg was eastbound on Kedron Road while on his cell phone.

Johnson failed to see the intersection with Grater Road before his truck hit a ditch and overturned.

Johnson and two passengers were taken to an Eldorado hospital with injuries. One passenger was later taken to an Evansville, Indiana hospital for treatment. No one was wearing a seatbelt, according to ISP.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office and Shawneetown Fire Department assisted ISP at the crash scene.

The crash remains under investigation by ISP.
