Court date set for former water clerk accused of stealing $71,000

CRAINVILLE, IL (KFVS) -

A court date has been set for a  former clerk at Crainville's water department faces charges.

Crainville Mayor Ron Mitchell says Linda Harvill faces charges after authorities say she took around $71,000 from public accounts. 

Linda Harville, 62, was in court Monday for a notice to appear. There is a new court date for a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 28 at 1:15 p.m. in front of Judge Speroni in the Williamson County Courthouse.

Harville worked at the water department for 24 years. Mitchell says since then, they have put in safeguards to protect the public's money.

According to court papers, Harvill has been charged with theft and official misconduct.
