KSP: Driver injured after truck with 5,000 chickens overturns on St. Rte. 136

Kentucky State Police say a driver was sent to the hospital after his truck overturned Monday morning.

According to police, Greg Pendley, 37, of Morgantown, Ky. was going east on State Route 136 in a 2004 Freightliner truck owned by Perdue. As he approached a curve, police say he lost control of the trailer he was hauling.

Police say the truck hit a guardrail and utility pole before overturning and landing on its side. The trailer was loaded with about 5,000 chickens belonging to Perdue.

Pendley was trapped until first responders from the Hartford and Beaver Dam Fire Departments were able to extricate from the cab. He was flown to a Nashville hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
