Government shutdown could impact National Guard

(KFVS) -

The threat of a government shut down could also affect agencies like the Illinois National Guard.

According to Captain Dutch Grove, 1300 civilian military technicians will report tomorrow and immediately go home on unpaid furlough.

This is for the entire state of Illinois.

"We have a lot of experience and knowledge that some of these things, now it's never actually followed through so it is something that they tell us to be prepared for," said Captain Casey Klein. "If there is an individual who finds themselves in financial difficulty we do have an emergency relief fund and other AID agencies that can assist that active duty soldier for the time period."

If the shutdown goes beyond the day they get paid, their paychecks will be delayed and carried over until the next pay date.
