WASHINGTON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A driver and two passengers were arrested Tuesday, Sept. 24 while traveling from Georgia to Colorado after police say they were traveling to purchase marijuana.
The 2013 Ford Hertz rental car was stopped for speeding on Interstate 64. The driver, Joshua Brown, 27, of Hiram, Ga., and the two passengers, Javier Padilla, 22, of Kennesaw, Ga. , and Morgan Brown, 19, of Hiram, Ga., appeared nervous and provided conflicting stories about their destination, according to Illinois State Police.
Brown admitted that he had a loaded nine millimeter pistol concealed in the driver's seat, according to ISP.
After searching the vehicle, an AR-15 rifle, more than $25,000 and marijuana was found.
None of the suspects had a valid Georgia conceal carry permit.
Brown was charged with aggravated unlawful use of weapon and possession of cannabis 2.5 to 10 grams. Padilla and Brown were charged with possession of cannabis 2.5 to 10 grams.
