2 injured in DUI crash in McCracken County

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A man was charged with a DUI after a two-vehicle injury collision on Saturday night.

It happened around 10:45 p.m. on Benton Road.

Deputies say Jory Tyler, 20, and a passenger Promise Labonte, 18, were in a Grand Marquis while backing out of Benton Road.

Tyler's car was hit by a gray Chrysler Sebring driven by 46-year-old Michael Overby.

Deputies say Overby crossed the railroad tracks on Benton Road and saw Tyler backing out onto Benton Road. Overby said that he was unable to avoid hitting Tyler's car.

Deputies say alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision. Overby and a passenger in his car were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Michael Overby was charged with DUI first and operating suspended license.

Promise Labonte was cited for no insurance first and Jory Tyler for instructional permit violation.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Mercy Regional, Jason’s Collision, and Reidland Farley Fire.

Traffic was disrupted for approximately 45 minutes for clean up and investigation.
