SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Saline County Sheriff's Office took a wanted southern Illinois man into custody early Sunday morning.

According to Sheriff Keith Brown, around 11 p.m. on Saturday deputies received a tip that Brian K. Potts, 39, of Golconda, Illinois, was seen earlier in the day going into a home on Highway 145 South, just outside of Harrisburg.

Potts was wanted on a Saline County warrant for failure to appear on a speeding violation and for an Illinois parole violation warrant.

Saline County deputies and Harrisburg Police officers arrived at the residence and spoke with the resident. The resident informed the officers that Potts was inside the home and was armed with a handgun.

The area around the home was secured and the regional ILEAS Tactical Team was assisted in the search of the home for Potts.

At around 5:45 a.m. Sunday, the ILEAS tactical team made entry into the home and detained Potts.

A handgun and ammunition were recovered in the residence. Potts taken into custody for a felon in possession of a firearm and on the outstanding warrants.

Potts was being held in the Saline County Jail pending the filing of formal charges.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Department was also looking for Potts after a domestic dispute in Equality on Thursday.
