VILLAGE OF EQUALITY, IL (KFVS) - The Gallatin County Sheriff's Department is looking for a man after a domestic dispute in Equality.
Gallatin County Sheriff Shannon Bradley says Equality police were called to 855 North McDuff in Equality around 2 p.m. Thursday.
Knowing the suspect had a history of parole and that neighbors told the police chief they had heard gunshots in the past, the chief called for back up from SWAT ISP and the Gallatin County Sheriff's Department.
The alleged victim of the domestic dispute told officers about drugs and weapons in the trailer. She was taken to the Harrisburg Medical Center.
Police believe Brian K. Potts left the trailer before police arrived. Police have a warrant for Potts' arrest. An empty gun holster was found in the home.
The Gallatin County sheriff says he believes Potts escaped through a back door before other agencies arrived on the scene.
However, one neighbor says she doesn't think he was gone for long.
"All I know is that the motorcycle left at four this morning over there," the neighbor, Margie Lewis, said. "I saw the brake lights and go up through the yard, it was parked up there by the trailer, the son's trailer and it's gone."
The alleged victim was taken to Harrisburg Medical Center.
Police believe Potts is still in the area and are asking the public to contact them if you think you know any information about his location.
Illinois State Police is investigating the case.
Police stayed on the scene until 3 a.m. Friday.
