CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A Murphysboro man has been sentenced to prison in connection to a June 2013 theft.

Robert Blair, 45 was sentenced in Jackson County Court to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on Thursday.

Police say in June, Blair met the victim at a bar and later asked the victim for his wallet.

When the victim refused twice, police say Blair began to punch the victim in the head and took the wallet from the victim’s pocket.

Blair was taken into custody shortly afterwards, and identified by the victim.

The sentence is to run concurrently with another 5 year sentence of Blair's in a separate theft case.
