BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A Poplar Bluff man has died after a piece of heavy equipment he was on fell into a lake Thursday afternoon.
Around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs says his office got a call about an overturned excavator in a private lake with a person pinned inside. This happened off County Road 450.
After arriving, deputies were not able to get the doors open, but were able to get a window out.
They pulled the man out and he was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
The sheriff says the Poplar Bluff man was spreading rock on the bank when the excavator turned over into the lake.
