BENTON, MO (KFVS) - A Scott County man accused of murdering his mother made a court appearance on Wednesday.
Neil Howland appeared for a preliminary hearing at the Scott County Courthouse.
He has been charged with murder 1st degree in connection to Cynthia Canoy's death.
Howland has a case review scheduled for November 19 at 2 p.m. at the Scott County Courthouse.
During questioning in August, Howland admitted that he strangled his mother, put her body in her vehicle with her two dogs, drove the vehicle to a cornfield, poured gasoline on it, and set it on fire with his mother's body and the two dogs inside, according to the probable cause statement.
Howland also told police his mother made him mad during a conversation, according to the probable cause statement.
