CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A Carbondale man pleaded guilty Wednesday to burglary charges and was sentenced to prison.

According to police, Kevin L. Fajardo, 39, of Carbondale pleaded guilty pursuant to a plea agreement and was sentenced to serve four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He will serve a two-year period of mandatory supervised release upon his release from prison.

Police say Fajardo burglarized the Phillip’s 66 convenience store on East Main Street in July 2013.

Officers saw four male suspects flee from the area of the business. Fajardo was later taken into custody by police officers.

Officers say they found items from the business inside Fajardo's backpack.
