3 dead, 1 injured after crash in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Three people are dead following an early morning crash on Interstate 64 in Jefferson County.

According to Coroner Eddie Joe Marks, the crash happened around 2 a.m. in the eastbound lane near mile marker 69 at the Woodlawn overpass.

Luther James Wyatt, 51, Roberta Jones, 57, Delorise Jones, 52, all of Mt. Vernon were thrown from a vehicle.

All three were pronounced dead at 3:20 a.m.

The deceased were all related.

The driver of another car, 20-year-old Aaron Myers, of Simpson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and violation of license restriction (no corrective lenses), according to Illinois State Police.

He was taken to the hospital with injuries.
