CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Meals with friends is turning into lunch with friends, at least as far as the Salvation Army is concerned.

The Cape Girardeau location already provides meals to families that might need the help, but that's for supper.

Starting Monday, volunteers served a hot lunch to community members that need the help.

The meals will be available during the last week of every month.

"We're actually adding a program for the community," said Captain Ronnie Amick. "We'll still be doing the dinner for the kids and their family in the evening and we're adding a lunch for the community through the week."

Of course, the Salvation Army will need volunteers to help prepare and serve the meals.

If you want to volunteer, you can find more information here, or just call the folks at Cape's Salvation Army at 573-335-7000.
