New iPhones go on sale Friday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The new iPhones went on sale Friday.

This is the first time the company has offered two new models on the same day.

The 5S offers a fingerprint scanner and the 5C is a lower cost version available in five colors.

There were not huge lines in Cape Girardeau like there were in other places, but a few folks waited awhile to be there when the stores opened.

One woman says she had to sneak out of the house.

"I was hoping my husband had the day off being a roofer, he was asleep so I had to sneak out of the house through the garage with the dog barking, so I had planned for my grandma to come and get the kids ready for school, so hopefully he won't wake up and wonder where I've been for the last few hours," said one woman.

Apple hopes the 5C will help it better compete with less expensive Android-powered phones.
