SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Saline County Emergency Management Agency (SCEMA) invites the public to an open house for National Preparedness Month.
The agency is hosting its first open house on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a director's presentation at 6 p.m.
The open house is to better inform the community about being prepared for emergencies.
National Preparedness month is a nationwide effort that encourages families and individuals to take simple steps to prepare their homes, businesses and communities.
The open house will teach people concrete steps to prepare for emergencies and disasters.
People will get to see the SCEMA office, examples of family and personal emergency supply kits and have the opportunity to learn about becoming a SCEMA volunteer staff member.
The open house will be at the Saline County Emergency Operations Center, at 402 Seright Street in Harrisburg, Ill.
In order to be prepared, the Saline County Emergency Management Agency encourages the community to:
- Put together an emergency supply kit.
- Make a family emergency plan.
- Be prepared to help your neighbor and work as a team to keep everyone safe.
