NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Emergency crews were on the scene of a one-vehicle crash on Interstate-55 southbound near mile marker 45, according to New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens.

The crash happened sometime around 2:58 p.m. on Thursday, September 19.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Michelle L. Cochran, 48, from Burfordville, Mo. was driving a 2004 Mack tractor pulling a dump trailer when it had a blow-out and ran off the right side of the road, causing it to overturn.

The sheriff's office said crews had to remove the driver from the semi-truck. Cochran was seriously injured, according to highway patrol, and flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

The sheriff's office dispatch said the semi's trailer was carrying 25-tons of rock.

A fire truck was on scene because the semi had been leaking fuel.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the road was not blocked.

Missouri Highway Patrol and crews from Portageville and Sikeston responded. EMS also responded.
