The Oak Ridge School District says they have the playbook for success and the Department of Education agrees. In an annual report, the district ranks in the top 10 percent of all Missouri school districts. Todd Tumminia spent the day there and will have more on their success tonight, on Heartland News at 9 and 10.

Arnold Wyrick was in Marion tonight for an Illinois Department of Transportation meeting. One of the things being discussed is adding more bike lanes throughout the state. Tune in to Heartland News at 9 and 10 for more.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 4-year-old girl was killed, a 5-year-old injured and two more people including a pregnant woman were injured after a crash on Highway 67. The crash happened shortly after 11:10 a.m. today about 1 mile west of Neelyville.

New numbers from the Food Research and Action Center show one in four homes with children in the U.S. struggles with being able to consistently afford food. A St. Francis County man is facing a rape charge, according to the sheriff's office. Eighteen-year-old Brady J. Newcomer was accused of forcing a minor to have intercourse 13 times between July 2009 and February 2012.
