A Massac County man is accused of firing a gun in his neighborhood.

According to the sheriff, officers were called to a home on Unity School Road around 8:30 Tuesday night.

Witnesses told deputies they'd seen David Hausman firing a handgun in a yard.

When officers arrived, they evacuated homes in the area. By that time, Hausman had run into a nearby cornfield.

Illinois State Police called in a plane to fly over the area to help find him, but before the plane arrived, Hausman surrendered.

He faces charges of aggravated domestic battery and disorderly conduct.

He's being held without bond.

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
