Todd Tumminia will be in Carbondale this evening where people have gathered for a safety event on the SIU campus that is raising awareness of sexual violence.

A woman is dead and her husband was taken into custody after an early morning homicide in Sikeston. Christy Millweard was there and spoke to police and neighbors about the investigation. You can click here for more.

It's the 12th of the month and that means it's Pink Up day. It's almost the one year anniversary of the partnership between KFVS12 and Saint Francis Medical center to increase awareness of breast cancer and bring you the Pink Up segments each month. The campaign itself is actually celebrating its third year anniversary. This month, Christy Millweard tells us where the money raised in the campaign goes and what the money is used for.

Outside the Heartland, an intense fire took over a popular boardwalk area in Seaside Park, NJ today, consuming nearly 80 percent of the boardwalk. The fire was first reported as a 5-alarm fire, according to local authorities, but then escalated quickly and became a 6-alarm fire.

Heavy rains sent walls of water crashing down mountainsides today in Colorado, cutting off remote towns, forcing the state's largest university to close and leaving at least three people dead across a rugged landscape that included areas blackened by recent wildfires.

In national news, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry opened swiftly convened talks with Russia on Syria's chemical weapons today by bluntly rejecting a Syrian pledge to begin a "standard process" by turning over information rather than weapons – and nothing immediately. "The words of Syrian regime in our judgment are simply not enough," Kerry said.
