STEELE, MO (KFVS) - A Steele, Missouri police officer was injured during the pursuit of a drug suspect on Wednesday.
According to police, it began when they got a report of someone having a large amount of marijuana.
Officers found the suspect on North First Street where officers say he threw several individually wrapped baggies of purported marijuana packaged for sale on the ground. The suspect then ran off.
An officer spotted the suspect before he ran away again.
While crossing the intersection of West Main and First Street Streets, a patrol car was hit on the driver's side by a westbound vehicle on Main Street.
The officer was taken by EMS to Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The 63-year-old driver of the other vehicle was also treated for minor injuries. The 63-year-old was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail.
A warrant for felony drug charges and resisting arrest has been issued for the suspect who ran from police.
The officer was treated and released.
