Marion man pleads not guilty in death of toddler

MARION, IL (KFVS) -

A Marion man pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in connection with the death of a young boy.

Kody Johnson, 25, faces a charge of 1st degree murder in connection with the death of 23-month-old Skyler West-France.

According to court documents, Johnson jerked, slung, tossed, or shook Skyler, causing his death.

A report from Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center in St. Louis shows Skyler had a severe brain injury with bleeding around the brain.

Johnson will be back in court later this month.
