Carbondale hospital joins partnership to help lower health care costs

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) announced Tuesday that it would be joining the BJC Collaborative, a partnership among health care systems throughout Illinois, Missouri and Eastern Kansas. It will be the sixth member to join.

The Collaborative was created in 2012 to improve the quality of health care for patients and lower health care costs.

The BJC Collaborative also provides better access to St. Louis hospitals, like Barnes Jewish Hospital, to patients who need to be referred for specialized medical care or treatment.

By joining the Collaborative, SIH will be able to work with area hospitals to improve patient care, while reducing the cost of healthcare.
