BENTON, MO (KFVS) -

Kelly school officials and firefighters evacuated the school after an air-conditioning unit on the roof of the gym malfunctioned in Benton, Missouri.

Superintendent Don Moore says someone discovered a little bit of smoke in the gym near the ceiling along with some sort of odd smell.

Moore says there is no visible fire, but they've been getting kids out of the school.

The fire department is checking things out.

No one has been hurt. No students are in danger.

Moore says school will stay in session.

Rural Scott County and NBC fire departments as well at the Scott County Sheriff's Department responded to the school.
