6 cars involved in related crashes on I-55

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Two different crashes involving six different vehicles closed down part of northbound I-55 Friday morning.

According to Officer Darin Hickey with Cape Girardeau Police, the crashes happened near mile marker 92.

Four vehicles were involved in the first crash, two were involved in the second crash.

The crashes happened when a blue truck pulled onto the interstate and lost a ladder out of the back.

A van behind the truck slowed down, but ran over the ladder and then stopped.

A car behind the van ran over the ladder and then hit the van.

An Ameren UE truck then struck the back of the car.

The blue truck with the ladder did not stop and left the scene, according to Hickey.

A truck behind the Ameren truck slowed to avoid the crash and was hit in the rear by another truck.

No injuries were reported as part of the crashes.
