POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

The Missouri Highway Patrol confirms there is no active investigation involving Poplar Bluff City Manager Doug Bagby.

Bagby told Heartland News back in August the patrol planned to investigate Councilwoman Angela Pearson's claims that he shuffled city work to his friends and neighbors.

Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whitely received a copy of a document containing about 470 pages prepared by Pearson on August 14. The document alleged criminal wrongdoing by Bagby, City Attorney Wally Duncan, former and current Poplar Bluff city council members, and other community and business leaders in Poplar Bluff.

Whiteley request an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Col. Ron Replogle with the Missouri State Highway Patrol sent a letter to Chief Whiteley on Wednesday saying "Based on the available information, the allegations do not appear to be of a criminal nature," and "I am unable to approve your request for this investigation."

"I think the letter speaks for itself", City Manager Bagby said early Thursday, "and in my opinion will not satisfy Ms. Pearson or her supporters."

"I'm hopeful that the federal agencies will take their time to do fair and diligent investigations", Pearson says.  " I continue to hold concerns along with many other citizens who have called me to say that they stand behind these efforts to eliminate any possible conflicts of interest in the present and the future."

Pearson also sent her information to the FBI, the Security and Exchange Commission and the Missouri Attorney General's Office.
